The move continues…

20 Jan

Happy Friday everyone!

Our move into the new apartment continues this weekend. And I gotta say…this is the best way to move. Ever! We carry a little bit more across the hall everyday. And gradually, stuff has started to accumulate in the new apartment.

No muss. No fuss.

My goal for this weekend is to move our closets and our kitchen stuff over. I know that everyone probably says this but I’m going to be more organized in the new place. Ha! Well…it’s at least going to start out more organized. I’m developing systems. I’ve bought shelves and boxes. Our closets and kitchen will not be a disaster this time! Right?!

And because our move has been a piece of cake, I’ve also found room for extra projects. Can’t make things too easy, now can we? So, I’m painting all the IKEA furniture that I hate in a color that I love. Hopefully Deron and Henry like turquoise and teal as much as me cause we’re going to have a lot of blue-ish furniture here soon.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Hello new apartment!

15 Jan

The lease is signed.

We have the keys.

Our stuff is moving across the hall.

It’s finally here…moving day! Well, moving weeks.

Over the course of the next two weeks, we are moving out of our one bedroom apartment into a remodeled two bedroom apartment across the hall. Thank goodness…it’s the easiest move in the world.

We are SO excited for our new space but there are some sad feelings lingering around too. This is the first place that Deron and I lived in as a married couple. This is the place where Henry spent his first year of life. We’ve spent the last six years here. Many memories. So many memories.

Ahhh…but it is time to move on. We’re in a new phase of life and we are ready for a new apartment. So, we bid a fond farewell to our lovely first apartment and welcome the move into our new place. Hello new apartment!

A new project (can I do it?)

4 Jan

I’m starting a new project, a fairly large, pretty substantial project.

I’m making a new quilt for our bed.

Cause I’m a crazy person.

I don’t know exactly why I’m doing this. Maybe I just wanted something pretty for our new apartment and our current quilt is looking ragged. It needs a rest. Or maybe it’s because I’m a project person and I can’t help myself. I feel compelled.

So, I’m taking on a crazy person project and I’m going to make a quilt in my spare time.

I’m trying to be somewhat realistic with all this. Only 24 big rectangles sewn into three columns. Relatively easy compared to some quilts out there.

And I found such pretty fabrics from Amy Butler, Joel Dewberry, Sandi Henerson, and Terrie Mangat.

The theme seems to be navy blue, avocado green, turquoise, and purple with grey and coral accents. Now that I’m looking at it again, it is a slightly crazy color combination. Oh well. Maybe that can be the theme for the quilt…crazy.

So for right now, we wait for the fabrics to arrive.

I’ll keep you posted on the quilting progress.
